National Wear Red Day in Fort Wayne

Wear Red Day is on February 1, 2013

Did you know that heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined?  It is our nation's #1 killer, taking the lives of 2,200 Americans every single day.

The American Heart Association works to fund research and fight this deadly epidemic so that more lives can be spared - Your help is needed!

Here are some ideas to support the American Heart Association on Wear Red Day...

Call Emily Hayes, your Heart Ball Director, for bookmarks, posters, pins, stickers and other materials to create awareness!  260-433-2110 or email Emily.hayes@heart.org

Have employees pay to wear jeans and a red shirt to work (and they receive a red dress pin)

Sell red hearts, red dress pins or red dress stickers in your office

Host a fundraiser at your office, like a bake sale or car wash

Having a mini-fundraiser at home or work is fun and easy, especially if you do it with friends!

A Warm & Cozy Evening to Benefit Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Center

It was a Warm & Cozy evening inside the offices at A Party Apart in downtown Fort Wayne on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.  It was an evening hosted by Cheryl Brockmann to shed light on a wonderful organization, the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Center.

Michelle Ditton, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, Chief Nursing Officer and Ex. Dir. of the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Center explained to the crowd the essential work performed at the center and how fortunate the Fort Wayne area is to have such a facility.

Since 1996 The Sexual Assault Center has helped over 4,000 patients.
Last year, 2012, was the second busiest year with a total of 332 patients.
Since 1996, the youngest person sexually assaulted was only 37 days old and the oldest was 91 years old.
Attendees brought toiletry items, new clothing, and/or monetary donations to help with day-to-day operation expenses.

See more photos on Facebook.

Michelle Ditton encourages everyone to call and schedule a tour of this organization's facility.  To learn more about the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Center visit their new website and consider a donation of your time, talent, or treasure.
